Abstract

Project "Multifunctional smart buoys" deals with the development, validation and demonstration of innovative smart sea buoy technology up to TRL7, for long-term work at sea.

The name "smart buoy" is a broader term in the context of this project and the goal is to explore it from 3 perspectives and through 3 configurations:

• Configuration 1 - static buoy. Measurement of environmental variables (sea and air) with long-term marine operation. Part of a network (smart city) for real-time remote access.
• Configuration 2 - functionalities of configuration 1 with support for an extended network of seabed-mounted devices. Remote access through the Internet of Things (IoT).
• Configuration 3 - dynamic buoys. Pollution monitoring, control for optimal coverage of a wider measurement area and an IoT approach.
