Breaking the Surface - International Interdsciplinary Field Workshop of Maritime Robotics and Applications has been organized for 10 years in a row on the Adriatic Coast of Croatia (Murter and Biograd na Moru), gathering academics, scientists, industry representatives, students, legal experts and many other end-users in the field of maritime robotics and related applications.

Over the years, Breaking the Surface has become a favorite gathering place for participants to share their knowledge and experiences with each other, learn more about state-of-the-art technologies, and to network in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. In its 10 years of existence, BTS has evolved from a small field training gathering of some 40 participants to a world-recognized event that now brings together around 200 participants every year:
Every year, the expert program keeps getting richer and more diverse, including lectures, vehicle and equipment demonstrations, company and project presentations, tutorials and workshops. But it's not always just work - the social aspect of the event has certainly grown with time, as well - so there's definitely something for everyone: We've held project partner, sponsor and theme parties, went on field trips where we visited many nearby areas of Dalmatia, we've sung countless songs during karaoke evenings, and every BTS has a gala dinner, too!
