Breaking the Surface - International Interdsciplinary Field Workshop of Maritime Robotics and Applications has been organized for 10 years in a row on the Adriatic Coast of Croatia (Murter and Biograd na Moru), gathering academics, scientists, industry representatives, students, legal experts and many other end-users in the field of maritime robotics and related applications.

Over the years, Breaking the Surface has become a favorite gathering place for participants to share their knowledge and experiences with each other, learn more about state-of-the-art technologies, and to network in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. In its 10 years of existence, BTS has evolved from a small field training gathering of some 40 participants to a world-recognized event that now brings together around 200 participants every year:

 

 

 

Expert program

Every year, the expert program keeps getting richer and more diverse, including lectures, vehicle and equipment demonstrations, company and project presentations, tutorials and workshops. All registered participants can take part in all of the activities that are part of the event's program. In the past 10 years, we've seen:

 

 

 

 

 

 

Social program

But it's not always just work - the social aspect of the event has certainly grown with time, as well - so there's definitely something for everyone: We've held project partner, sponsor and theme parties, went on field trips where we visited many nearby areas of Dalmatia, we've sung countless songs during karaoke evenings, and every BTS has a gala dinner, too!
