At the international conference “New Challenges for Underwater Nature and Cultural Heritage Tourism during the Ocean Decade” held from 29 January to 1 February 2026, in Aix-en-Provence, France, experts and scholars from around the world gathered to explore sustainable practices in underwater cultural and natural heritage tourism.

Assistant Professor Fausto Miguel Pascoal Ferreira gave a presentation, "Using marine robotics to upskill
students and professionals" on innovative approaches in the field demonstrated within the uBlueTec project, engaging with peers on technological and methodological advances relevant to underwater heritage research.

Additionally, Vladimir Slošić featured a poster titled “Inertial diver dead-reckoning for enabling localization in underwater museums,” showcasing new work on diver navigation systems to support divers in underwater museums.

The conference brought together interdisciplinary research and practical insights aimed at enhancing the visibility and sustainability of underwater tourism within the framework of the UN Ocean Decade.
