LABUST has taken part in many scientific research projects relating to underwater systems and technologies in various roles. This includes numerous international (FP7, H2020, ONRG, INTERREG,...) as well as national projects.
Assistant Professor Fausto Ferreira participated in IEEE MetroSea 2025 conference in beautiful Genova, Italy (October 8-10). Assist. Prof. Fausto presented two articles "Deep Learning-Based Visual Approaches for Underwater Garbage Detection" and "Towards Real-Time Computer Vision for Cable Angle Estimation in Subsea Laying Operations" and co-authored a third one A Brief Survey on the Integration of Large Language Models with Marine Robotic Systems. In addition, he announced the dates and location for IEEE MetroSea 2026: 5-7 October, Šibenik. More on MetroSea 2026 will soon be announced.
IEEE MetroSea aims to gather people who work in developing instrumentation and measurement methods for the sea. Attention is paid, but not limited to, new technology for sea environment monitoring, metrology-assisted production in sea industry, ship component measurement, sensors and associated signal conditioning for the sea, and calibration methods for electronic test and measurement for marine applications.
