LABUST has taken part in many scientific research projects relating to underwater systems and technologies in various roles. This includes numerous international (FP7, H2020, ONRG, INTERREG,...) as well as national projects.
On Saturday, November 23, 2024, the Open Doors Day of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) took place and attracted many visitors of all ages. This event offered the public, especially elementary and high-school students, the opportunity to explore the study programmes available at FER and learn about the ongoing research projects. Numerous departments and laboratories showcased their work, including our Laboratory for Underwater Systems and Technologies.
Assistants Natko Kraševac and Matej Fabijanić presented the completed Multi-functional Smart Buoy project, showcasing the buoys ability to measure ecological factors with advanced sensors, harness solar energy through integrated panels, and utilize a built-in camera and GPS for environmental monitoring and precise location tracking.
LUPIS, a Light Autonomous Underwater Vehicle designed in a torpedo shape definitely attracted the most attention. The vehicle is capable of carrying various sensors for conducting versatile and efficient underwater scientific surveys, which captivated the interest of many visitors.
Visitors were also curious about the active involvement of students in real-world projects and their opportunity to work hands-on with state-of-the-art software and hardware, highlighting the faculty's commitment to practical, cutting-edge education
